The Imperial opens in Bowral

The new Imperial Hotel opened in Bowral at the beginning of November ……. just in time for Melbourne Cup and the Bong Bong Races. The modern, contemporary bar is a refreshing change from the more traditional pubs around the Highlands ………. coming from Sydney I feel right at home!

It was previously the Port O’Call, but it has now gone back to the original name it had since 1867. It would be fair to say the name and location are all that ties this fantastic new bar back to its roots.

With a great beer garden for those long summer nights and Sunday lunches, pool room, front balcony and a great kitchen for diners, the Imperial has something for everyone.

Even the kids are welcome! Unlike many other establishments in the Highlands, the Imperial has been created with children in mind – the licensees have a young child themselves, so children and mothers groups are more than welcome.

Since it opened my husband has had lunch there and I have enjoyed dinner there with the ladies – both of us thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. A delicious Blue Eye Cod topped with a yummy concoction and  chips on the side had me wanting more. The chips are a must have – beer battered and yummy! Naturally dessert followed with a blackberry creme brullee, which certainly didn’t disappoint.
